RIGHT MINDSET TRAINING

​THE CHALLENGE!

Recent studies have found the average person has 48 thoughts per minute and 70 000 thoughts each day, and that 80% of these thoughts are negative.

​Our habitual negative thought patterns have been dictating our lives and the effect we have on others.

90% Of all dis-ease begins in the mind.
However, more Happiness, Love, Joy, Peace, Resilience, and Health are waiting for us:

OPTIMIZING OUR MENTAL & EMOTIONAL HEALTH: The main point of the Bible is to have God put His Laws of Love in our mind and to write them in our hearts - for us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

​THE LOVE OF JESUS IS BOTH THE PETROL AND THE DESTINATION!

"Therefore I keep my mind in that channel; I educate it; I train it; I train my tongue; I train my thoughts; I train all that there is of me that I may fasten it upon Jesus Christ."  2MCP 666.1

  • TRAINING EVERY THOUGHT IN LOVE: Paul who was inspired to write most of the New Testament compares this training of our minds to a war:  "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" 2 Corinthians 10:4,5.​​
 
  • THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT LOVE:  When Jesus was asked what was the greatest Commmandment He replied,  "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind" Matthew 22:37-40. Which naturally leads to the second, to love our neighbour as ourselves. "Christ came to change the current of men's thoughts and affections." 1T 196
 
  • THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT SHOCKED: Jesus used His first opportunity with a wide audience in the Sermon on the Mount to teach them about their accountability for their thoughts, not only for their outer keeping of the Law. In the sermon on the mount, Christ presented before his disciples the far-reaching principles of the law of God. He taught his hearers that the law was transgressed by the thoughts before the evil desire was carried out in actual commission. We are under obligation to control our thoughts, and to bring them into subjection to the law of God. RH June 10, 1888
 
  • OUR ONLY SECURITY:  Ellen G. White taught that the only security for any soul is right thinking! — The only security for any soul is right thinking. As a man “thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). The power of self-restraint strengthens by exercise. That which at first seems difficult, by constant repetition grows easy, until right thoughts and actions become habitual. If we will, we may turn away from all that is cheap and inferior and rise to a high standard; we may be respected by men and beloved of God.--The Ministry of Healing, 491 (1905). 
 
  • ​THE MAIN POINT OF THE BIBLE: is to bring people to right thinking. The New Covenant is about God writing His Laws of love in our minds - Hebrews 8:10. We are to be sealed in our foreheads – Revelation 7:3; 14:1. Sealed in their foreheads – a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved. SDA Bible Commentary 4:1161.
 
  • THIS IS RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH: the third angels message of Revelation 14 – Keeping the Commandments of God and the Faith of Jesus! This is the Latter Rain that began sprinkling in 1888! 
 
  • THE FRUIT: The need is great for us to learn to abstain from assuming, judging and reacting in our thoughts, and to develop a continual loving connection with Jesus. This brings the fruit of the mindset of the spirit that is by grace through faith, which Paul wrote about so often: Love, Joy, Peace, Long Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance (Self Control). Galatians 5:22,23.
 
  • MOVE OR DIE!  Paul went much further in clearly saying gain this right mindset on the spirit or you are lost and bound for death: Romans 8:5,6 "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. " (NKJV)​​ ​

"HOW CAN I BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF MY MIND?"

We have a loving Creator who has given us simple, practical instructions for training our minds through the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.  These are outlined in the '7 Steps to Heaven'.

​The choice to study and apply these steps daily or not is entirely ours. But the consequence of our choice is sure – Life and Peace, or Death.

The Final Instructions

The final instructions to His disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, before Jesus was taken from them, were to watch and pray to avoid temptation, Matthew 26:40,41; Mark 14:38. Our final instructions in Revelation 16:15 are to watch.
